Three months ago in September my friend from bowling, Headless Mom, asked if I could send a handkerchief to a woman named Anna who lost her 12 year old son Jack in a tragic drowning accident.
I recently shared the story of his sister Margaret on my Just Breathe blog and the trip she was blessed with to see Justin Beiber at the AMA awards in Los Angeles. What a wonderful young girl she is.
Ever since his passing I have been reading Anna's posts. The families incredible faith in God is so inspiring to read. When faced with their worst nightmare she is able to write the most moving posts. So I was reading the post In The Woods where Anna says "One of the things that has sustained us over these weeks as we drive through our town are the royal blue ribbons on trees, schools, mailboxes, cars, and fence posts telling us that our community cares and has not forgotten Jack. The blue ribbons feel like a hug to me each time I see them."
So when I read that post I was so moved by it that I felt inspired to do something with ribbons to honor Jack. So in my comment to Anna I told her that I was going to put ribbons on my small Norfolk Pine in our front yard. Anna was moved by my comment and asked me to send her a picture when I did. Just thinking about this now gives me goosebumps. It felt so wonderful as my daughter and I were putting the bows on the tree knowing that we could do something to honor Jack.
If you have time please go on over to read Anna's posts I am sure she would love to receive a hug from you.

How beautiful! There is so much good like this in our world, and yet "the news people" decide to report their idea of The News. I don't even need to list any of the subjects...we're all way too familiar with them.
The blue ribbons are beautiful. Just knowing you are showing everyone passing by your house that someone is being remembered this way brings all of us closer.
That is so sweet of you to honor Jack that way. I'm off to check out her blog.
